| What
is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy
methods can help relieve pain allowing you to
return to full function and do the things you
want to do! Whether you have had an acute injury,
through sport or trauma, or a longer term chronic
problem such as arthritis, we can help.
Here
at the A.P Clinic we treat injuries and conditions
by encouraging the body's own natural healing
mechanisms to optimise recovery.
An
initial assessment is given by the physiotherapist
by taking a history of the problem and then
examining the area. We analyse the range of
movement, pain levels, muscular spasm and level
of function.
Once
a clinical diagnosis is reached there follows
a course of treatment (if necessary) which may
include electrotherapy, interferential therapy,
ultrasound pulsed short wave, laser, soft tissue
mobilisations, joint manipulation, postural
correction exercises and stretching. When appropriate
the physiotherapist will integrate you back
to your sport or workplace safely to prevent
further injury.
